i am what i am

On this page I will discuss Kairi's clothings she dons throughout both sagas, and what symbolism it shows. First, of course, is her Kingdom Hearts outfit. Second, is her school uniform, and finally, her general outfit for the rest of the second game.

a long time ago

For being a girl, Kairi has relatively short hair. It comes down at the back just to the bottom of her head, and goes along on a diagnal level, so it is slightly longer around her face. Some of her hair falls into her eyes, which are, bright blue (like Sora's). Around her neck she wears a black chokerl why she has this, I have no idea; personally I believe it to be something to do with the word 'choke' - 'choker'. She sort of.. becomes lifeless, like a doll 'choke'd to death.

She has no muscle tone what so ever on her arms, and they are mostly frail. This, of course, comes from the fact she is overly lazy and gets out of work when she can. She wears a similar band round her left arm as to her choker, except it being purple, and coming from her choker is a pendant, moonstone like neckless. I think the gem might be agate of some sort - I have a necklace in the same shape and of that stone, which is suprisingly similar. She wears a white top with black and purple edging seperate from her skirt, just coming down to her navel.

On her left arm she wears another, larger band, again of yellow. On her right she has two bangles, one black and one yellow, mimicking the colours of the band and choker. She wears a purple belt to fix her skirt in place, and also dons a flowery lilac skirt that's relatively short (as is the style of most of her age).

Her shoes, like Sora's and Riku's, are overly large, though unlike theirs, appear to be slip on shoes. They again, are white and purple, and come along the back to just above the rim of her heel, giving them the 'slip-on' appearance. However, they do indeed have laces, so they might just have short backs - in summer, you would not be prone to wearing heavy trainers, right? unless you were Sora and Riku, of course.

revolations

Kairi seems to have in the course of the year, got more in touch with her feminine side (probably from hanging out with Selphie more) and grown out her hair slightly, so it's now past her shoulders. The choker is gone, but still, the moonstone necklace remains. This is pure speculation, but it could have possibly been a present from one of the boys - that might cause her to keep hold of it, right? She has a black hood at the back of her head, similar to what Yuna aquires in X-2.

Once again, she still has the same frail appearance, but is probably stronger on the inside. She appears to have gone through puberty a bit more, since her body is more woman like than that of a child. She wears a white top with a pink dress over the top, with a zipper that stops at one point. The white top is probably the link back to her previous character design.

She's dropped the bangles, but for a different, less chunky set, this time of blue and pink. She wears, again, another short skirt/dress, but this time has acquired a belt with a small bag attatched, clear she is up the challange of any adventure thrust upon her. On top of it is a pink ribbon.

The no backed shoes have gone to be replaced with ones even more similar to Sora's from the first game - but keep to her old colour scheme, with a somewhat lilacy purple. The laces on them even tie up around her ankles and legs, which are black - they give her a lot more movement as such, and she can seemingly run faster than she did when she was wearing the ones that weren't backed.

another school day

There's nothing really different to say about what she does with her hair for school. She wears it down as she does normally, and it's the same length and everything, and she does nothing with her face at school. The pendant is not visible, either she's not wearing it or it's hidden under her shirt.

The way she wears her uniform shows the 'rebel' side she has acquired. Her sleeves are rolled up/cut off, probably to distinguish her as different, or maybe it's the fashion sense for her year, as due to being alone, would probably end up following trends in an attempt to fit in with everyone else. Or perhaps it's to show the freedom she wants to have, being optimistic and all, or maybe I'm just over-reading this. She wears a blue checked tie with her shirt.

Checkered skirt to match the tie, which again, is relatively short. She doesn't wear the bangles, so it's probably safe to asume the school has a 'no jewelry' rule or something along that line. And the shirt is not tucked in. Rebel XD

And here we go with the shoes! Which are... too normal, normal black coloured shoes that looked like she's been Clarks, with navy blue socks pulled up high and not round her ankles.
